6-1; P-iceroo Acuna (3) Norm ScheHenger, 7-6 (7-2). 7-6 (7-2), Trout fishing is picking up in both the Banana River and Indian River along the grass flats. Sebastian Inlet Snook fishing is best at night on the outgoing tide. Bucktail jigs, Bombers and Rebels are the most effective lures. Big blues also are hitting at night, but not in large numbers.
Bottom fishing yields mostly sheepshead and drum. Trout are just fair inside the rivers. Stuart-Fort Pierce: Sailfishing has been slow. Offshore trolling is best around 8-Mile Reef for dolphin and bonito. Try trolling swimming mullet for best results.
Lake County: Shellcracker fishing is really hot in most lakes except Dora and Eustis. Use live worms or crickets, and fish in the lily pads for limit catches of shellcrackers up to a pound each. Speckled perch fishing is good in Lake Dora just outside the grass line on live minnows. Bass fishing is slow in most lakes. SL Johns River.
Schooling bass are best around the Lemon Bluff area and Snake Creek. Best lures are top-water and plastic worms. A few largemouths are hitting live shiners. Grass beds along the souttvshore of Lake George also have been productive for anglers using live shiners. Bream fishing is fair in most parts of the river and connecting lakes.
Speck fishing is slow. Lake Tohopekaliga: Bass fishing has been slow. A few are hitting back in the weeds and lily pads on live shiners. Bream fishing also has been on the slow side but should improve any day. East Lake Tohopekaliga: Bass fishing has been good this week on the west side.
For best catches, troll large live shiners along the reed lines. Bluegill are starting to bed on the north side of the lake. Use live worms, and fish around the weeds. Orlando area: The Butler and Conway chains of lakes offer the best bass fishing. Fish just off the weedlines in Butler's Lake Down with plastic worms.
The bass are coming out of the hydrilla to hit the worms Try the shorelines with plastic worms or crankbaits in Conway. Bream are becoming more active in most area lakes and should improve with tonight's full moon. Gulf Coast If strong winds subside by the weekend, trout and grouper fishing could return to normal in the Gulf off hom*osassa River and Crystal River. Fish the Ship Rock and Bombing Range areas off hom*osassa in 8- to 10-foot water, and use live shrimp or jigs for best results. Grouper catches have been good farther out in 50-foot depths on jigs and cut bait.
Freshwater bass fishing is gooo on live shiners inside the rivers near the springs. Daytona Beach-New Smyrna Beach: Seas have been running 3 to 5 feet this week. Offshore anglers should hit king mackerel trolling spoons or jigs and ballyhoo around the Party Grounds and at East Ridge. Use a downrigger to get the baits down 10 feet for best results. Party boats are locating snapper, grouper and sea bass 20 to 25 miles offshore using cut bait and fishing on bottom.
Cobia are feeding closer to shore. Oak Hill: Guided parties are catching 30 to 60 trout per trip in the Indian River. They are using live shrimp and popping corks and fishing the grass flats in that area. Sport shrimpers were averaging 3-4 gallons per night until midweek, when the action slowed. It's a gamble, but fishingcould improve and remain good through tonight's full moon and a few days thereafter.
Check the low tide at Daytona Beach, high tide at Oak Hill for best time to start shrimping each night. Titusvllle: Trout are scattered along the grass flats and spoil islands. Use live shrimp, topwater lures or spoons for best results. Blues and whiting should be feeding in the surf. A few reds also can toe found feeding along the grass flats inside the river.
Port Canaveral: Blackfin tuna, dolphin and wahoo fishing is best in 120- to 350-foot water off Pelican Flats. Kings and billfish are slow, but fishing should improve for both species this month. Cqbia are feeding along the outside buoy lines on large live shrimp or sailor's choice. Blues, flounder and weakfish are hitting well inside the port around the Middle Basin. Weakfish prefer live shrimp, and flounder hit live shrimp and fingerling mullet.
