HELLO ALL HORROR FANS!!!

My name is Angel Andino, and I am a college film student and proud founder of the film production company known as Purgatory Pictures. I am directing a Wendigo short film called "Panphobia." The title 'Panphobia' is a term that refers to a fear of everything, and it perfectly encapsulates the theme of our film. The story follows a young environmental journalist named Astrid, battling her fear of the unknown and losing her sister. The film has a mix of psychological and folklore horror, taking inspiration from movies such as "The Ritual," "The Blair Witch Project," and "It Comes at Night." Each film presents the usage of fear of isolation within forest environments as tensions rise when otherworldly events or something supernatural watch as you are trapped in their domain, with characters battling their inner demons along with the fears of what's lurking in the woods. This unique concept promises a thrilling and thought-provoking experience for all horror enthusiasts.

STORY:

A young environmental journalist named Astrid is searching for her younger sister, who disappeared with her friends in a forbidden forest in the Appalachian Mountains. By entering the forest, she begins to suspect a dark, sinister force is following her, and it is hungry. As she continues to uncover leads to finding her sister, the more she begins to suspect that what is following her is a creature from Native American legends that are craving for human flesh known as the Wendigo.

WHAT IS THE WENDIGO?

For those who don't know what a Wendigo is, I am glad to help explain. Originating from Algonquian folklore, a Wendigo is when a human being commits the act of cannibalism, and by doing it, they become possessed by an evil spirit, transforming them into a monstrous creature that craves more human flesh.

I have wanted to create my version of a Wendigo film for a long time. The Wendigo is a well-known figure in Algonquian folklore, representing the consequences of greed and the dangers of isolation. It is a creature born out of human desperation and hunger, a metaphor for the darkness that can consume us. While it is a popular theme in different entertainment platforms, from books, creepypasta, TV shows, and video games, it is scarce in movies, at least to my knowledge. The Wendigo isn't in the same league as werewolves, vampires, or zombies, but it carries a unique cultural significance that deserves to be explored in the film. It would be exciting to bring this folklore into film formats and share the same notoriety as them.

WHY ARE WE FUNDING THIS?

We, a team of dedicated film students, are passionate about storytelling and have a collective experience in various film projects. However, bringing a film, especially one of this magnitude, to life requires significant time, effort, and budgeting. While we have some resources on campus, more is needed for the ambitious movie we aim to create. Your support will not only help us secure the necessary resources but also enable us to expand our knowledge and skills as filmmakers. By contributing, you become an integral part of this project, leaving your mark on independent filmmaking.

With your generous support, we can transform this project from a dream into a reality. Your contribution is not just financial; it's crucial to bringing this unique horror film to life. We sincerely appreciate your support and eagerly anticipate sharing this thrilling journey!

WHERE WILL THE FUNDING GO?

The Majority of the funding will be used for costume supplies and new film equipment for this project.

We aim to allocate half of the budget to creating the Wendigo costume and the special effects (SFX). This will allow us to begin designing the Wendigo during the fall, ensuring we are ready to start filming in the spring of next year. Your support will directly contribute to our film's visual impact and authenticity. We have a detailed timeline for the project, which we will share with our supporters to keep them updated on our progress.

The other half is for film equipment and supplies. Like I said before, our film department has resources we can use. Still, since the entirety of the film will be set outside in different locations within a forest area and from our previous history, ing outside filming has been challenging for us, which is why we need new equipment, so we can be better prepared for anything that might happen or hold us back during production.

The rest will be spent on food because we will be starving while filming.
